The Train That Runs On "Virtual Rails"

BusTrain Configurations

BusTrains are modular combinations of basic units configured in any practical length.  They can be readily assembled and disassembled, even while in motion.  Shown below are BusTrains consisting of one, two, three, and four units.  All units are similar and interchangeable.  The basic BusTrain Unit is described on the next page.  BusTrains operate in a dedicated or HOV freeway lane.  BusTrains can be guided by either optical, radio-frequency, or magnetic signals from the roadway.  They run on "virtual rails".
